Our Beer
We specialize in American Ales brewed on site in our taproom brewery as well as in our Trenton production facility. It is our mission to provide fresh, easy drinking, great tasting beer boasting locally sourced ingredients. You can find our beer on tap and in cans in our Newport taproom as well as throughout Eastern North Carolina.

LOOKOUT BLONDE | 4.9% ABV
Light bodied, crisp & refreshing, this easy drinking beer is a great introduction for craft beer newbies.

CHATHAM STREET WHEAT | 6.0% ABV
This award winning American wheat is pale colored and refreshing with classic American hops and a sweet cracker-like aroma.

FIRE TOWER RED | 5.5% ABV
This medium bodied red ale is malty with sweet caramel notes.

DOWN EAST IPA | 6.3% ABV
This American IPA was brewed with NC Triticale, a hybrid of wheat and rye giving it a spicy character which melds well with the citrus flavor brought forth by the hops.
NEWPORT STRONG | 9.6% ABV
This imperial red is smooth and malty with caramel notes.
​GOOD VIBES | 7.5% ABV
Let the good times roll with this American IPA, dripping with juicy hop flavor, notes of pear & mild bitterness.
BACKSTREET BOURBON | 5.4% ABV
This medium bodied, vanilla bourbon porter is smooth and chocolaty.
DOCKSIDE | 4.5% ABV
This crushable American craft lager displays mild sweetness in balance with low bitterness.

ANGRY ELF| 5.4% ABV
Indulge in this Mexican hot chocolate porter brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg and chili peppers to add just a hint of spice.
SNICKERDOODLE | 5.5% ABV
This holiday inspired white stout melds vanilla and cinnamon with a subtle sweetness, reminiscent of a fresh baked snickerdoodle.

CROATAN PALE | 4.9% ABV
Hopped with Warrior, Chinook & Simcoe hops, this American pale ale is big on piney hop taste with a citrusy aroma.

MERRY CRANBERRY | 6% ABV
We've added a little holiday cheer to this seasonal wheat ale. Let your taste buds be merry with this deliciously refreshing blend of cranberries & raspberries.

Who We Are
Shortway Brewing Co. is a veteran-family owned taproom & brewery located in downtown Newport, NC. Established in 2017, with a vision to provide a community gathering place that felt like the neighborhood backyard. Here friends, families, & neighbors can come together while enjoying our hand crafted beverages. Our taproom & beer garden are kid, dog, & outside food friendly. We also offer a variety of NC made snacks & have food trucks on site several nights a week.
